You ever think of an idea and think, why hasn’t anyone already done it? That’s how Seoulmate came about it. After living in Long Beach for several years, I decided the city would welcome another Korean restaurant. However, riding the momentum of the food fusion wave, I thought that offering Korean/Mexican burritos and tacos along with more traditional dishes, might meet a nice niche in the city. I certainly didn’t invent anything fusion and am grateful for the culinary visionaries that enabled us to keep transforming their work. Just like the city of Long Beach itself, Seoulmate is a melting pot of ideas and flavors.
I also set out to hopefully restore dignity and respect inside a restaurant. There are far too many stories of employers taking advantage of their employees and although we are far from perfect, it is a core goal of ours to treat our staff like family.
I always like to say, there are a million different places to eat (literally) so the fact that you would give us a shot is always helping make our dream come true.
